GRAMPOUND FORE STREET (north side), Grampound SW 9248-9348 WITH CREED 7/41 Springfield 10:2:67 GV II
House. Late C18 - early C19, with alterations of later C19 and C20. Slatestone rubble, the front rendered; the render partly removed at time of survey (September 1987). C20 tiled roof with ridge tiles and gable ends. Gable end stacks with brick shafts. Plan: 2-room plan, with large principal room to left and smaller principal room to right, the entrance set off-centre to right. There is an outshut of one storey and loft along the rear, which contains a kitchen to left, heated from a brick stack at the left side, and with the stair hall to right. Exterior: 2 storeys and attic, a nearly symmetrical 3-window front. Ground floor has doorway off-centre to right with C19 4-panelled reveals. C19 12-pane sash with sidelights and cambered arch to left and right. Canted bay with cornice to left with C19 12-pane sash with sidelights. First floor has central C19 4-pane sash, later C19 6-pane sash to right and early C19 12-pane sash with sidelights to left. One hipped dormer with 6-pane sash (formerly two dormers). Phoenix fire insurance plaque above the doorway and eaves cornice with lion masks on the guttering. Right end blind and roughcast. The left end has early C19 12-pane sash at ground floor to right, with fire insurance plaque above, with crown, no. 7520. C20 window at first floor to left. At the rear is the outshut, of single storey with loft; 4-pane light at first floor to left and single hipped dormer above with 2-light casement. At ground floor there is a small single storey C19 wing with C20 windows and porch set in the angle to the main range. C20 bay window to the kitchen to right. Interior: Not inspected.
