Adjoining cottages. Probably C18. Painted slatestone rubble and cob with scantle
slate roofs and brick chimneys over gable ends and party wall. Large external breast
to lower end. Each cottage is 2 room, central stair plan. Left cottage, i.e.
Byeways is slightly narrower and projects to rear. Both cottages are 2 storeys and
have nearly symmetrical 2 window fronts with central doorways. 6-pane 2-light
casements to ground floor and 4-pane ones to first floor. Narrow recess between
cottages. Good cob texture to rear.
