GRAMPOUND FORE STREET (north side), Grampound SW 9248-9348 WITH CREED 7/47 Bonython 10.2.67 GV II
House, now in multiple occupation. Early C18, with some alterations and additions of mid-late C19 and some C20 alterations. Slatestone rubble with granite dressings. Hipped slate roof with ridge tiles and modillion cornice. Stack at the right end with brick shaft, stack at the left end with truncated shaft. The rear service wing has a stack at the outer left side. The roof is partly in asbestos slate. Plan: Single depth plan, with central entrance leading to a stair hall and principal room to front right and left. Rear service wing to left, of 2-room plan, the inner room heated from a stack at the left side. To rear of the main range, there is an addition of one-room plan to rear right, raised in height in C20, and a late C19 canted bay added to rear left. Exterior: 2 storeys on plinth, a symmetrical 5-window font. All windows are late C19 4-pane sashes in original openings with granite voussoirs and keystones. Central C18 6-panelled door with overlight and keystone, segmental lead hood set on scrolled stone brackets. Attached to right is one bay with C20 door with granite voussoirs and keystone, C19 4-pane sash with granite voussoirs and keystone at first floor. This bay has roof with gable ends, in asbestos slate, the modillion cornice continued at lower eaves level. The right end abuts the adjoining house. The left end has C19 4-pane sash at first floor to right. The rear wing is 2-storey, with C20 2-light casement and blocked door at ground floor; first floor has C19 6-pane sash and two C20 rooflights. The rear gable end of the wing has C20 door to left and 4-pane sash at first floor; asbestos slate-hung at upper level. At the rear, there is a 2-storey adddition to left, raised in height in C20, with C20 porch to left. Mid-late C19 canted bay to right, through 2 storeys, with 4-pane sashes. 6-panelled door to right and C20 window at first floor. The central window is a stair light, C20, of 3 lights. To right, the rear service wing is partly rendered, with two 16-pane sashes at ground floor to left, first floor 20-pane sash, all C19; C20 door and window to end right. C19 gabled dormer with 8-pane sash. Interior: The entrance leads to a passage, with C18 2-panelled door to right; the room to right has a moulded cornice. The doorway to left is blocked, and the room to left is partitioned to form a rear passage. To rear left there is a 2-panelled door to the kitchen wing, the fireplace at the left side with a bolection-moulded chimneypiece. The doorway to the end room in the wing is 2-panelled. The stair hall has been partitioned off from the main entrance passage; the stair is an early C18 open-well, with turned balusters and moulded handrail.
