Details
LOFTUS GRINKLE LANE NZ 71 NW (off west side), Easington. 1/15 The Rectory 20.1.67 G.V. II Rectory, mid C17, partly rebuilt in mid C18; early and mid C19 extensions adjoining left; outhouse and garage c.1970 when rear and right extensions were demolished. Chevron-tooled dressed sandstone. Welsh slate roofs with stone ridge and gable copings. Extensions and original rectory form "H"-plan. 2 storeys and attic, garden front: oi.e: 3: oie bays. c. 1976 glazed door at left in middle section. Sash windows with glazing bars, 6-pane on first floor, with projecting sills. Older gabled projecting wing at right has chamfered plinth, horizontal sash windows with glazing bars, altered to casement on ground floor, and keyed lintels. 6-pane sash window in gable. Later gabled wing at left end has 20-pane sash on ground floor and 16-pane sash on first floor. Single-storey outhouse and garage adjoining right end, in keeping. Ridge and end stacks. Inner return of older wing has renewed sash in chamfered opening on ground floor and blocked first-floor opening with C17 lintel. Rear of rectory altered in keeping. Rear doorway of outhouse has re-used chamfered lintel inscribed "S.T. 1667". Interior of centre section has panelled window shutters, 6-panel doors and architraves.
