7/35 Frogwell Mill
II
Mill and millhouse now used as farmhouse and store. Mill circa C18 and house
adjoining circa early C19. Rubblestone with rendered left hand gable end. Large
granite quoins on left hand corner of mill and top storey of right-hand corner.
Reused granite quoins on right-hand corner of farmhouse. Slate roof. Mill with
half-hip on left and gable end on right. Farmhouse adjoining right-hand gable end
with slate roof with gabled ends. Large projecting stone stack on right-hand gable
end of mill. Brick stack on right-hand gable end of house.
Mill: 3 storeys, regular north front. Ground floor with two 2-light casements,
right with glazing bars. Both partly boarded. Central stable door. Ground floor
openings with timber lintels. Door in centre on first floor and gauze-covered square
opening above. Window opening to right partly blocked.
Farmhouse: 2 storeys, regular 3 window front.
Ground floor. 2 light casement with glazing bars on left and gauze-covered dairy
window on right. Brick segmented arches. Early C20 panelled door in centre, set
back. Above, 2 late C19 two light casements with glazing bars and central C20 2-pane
window. Lean-to extension on right-hand gable end, of rubblestone with rounded
corner. C20 porch added in front.
Mill wheel originally positioned on rear (south) elevation. Machinery in mill
removed.
