Details
GWENNAP BURNCOOSE SW 73 NW 6/111 Burncoose Lodge and walls and gate- - piers to north west GV II Estate entrance lodge including walls and gate-piers to north west. Circa 1830-40 and extended circa later C19. Freestone ashlar walls and chimneys. Dry Delabole slate roofs with gable ends to east and west and hips to wings all with projecting eaves. Chimneys over angles between main block and wings. Originally T-shaped 3- room plan with similar plan additions to rear (east) to form almost mirror image plan. Single storey. West front has central projecting gable with central window and flat stone arch over. Flanking wings of equal size. Left-hand wing has central window. Right-hand wing is blind but porch in angle with square Tuscan pier and respond pilasters protects entrance to side wall of main part. North and south fronts have paired adjoining wings projecting with 2-window fronts. All windows are original 16-pane hornless sashes. Continuous plinth. Moulded verges. Panelled paired chimneys with moulded plinths and cornices. Interior not inspected. Estate entrance to north west has paired gateways between 3 ashlar gate-piers with cornices and sloping tops to caps with fillet to square central areas for statues. Central and left-hand pier are walled between. This wall and flanking quadrant on plan ashlar walls have plinths and moulded copings.
