Details
LOFTUS HIGH STREET NZ 7218 (south side), Loftus. 4/34 No. 74 (Barclays Bank). G.V. II Bank,c.1900. Sandstone ashlar; Welsh slate roof. Baroque style. 3 storeys, 6 bays. Plinth with moulded chamfer. Ground floor has rusticated pilasters with moulded capitals flanking openings below entablature with pulvinated frieze. Doorways in end bays, that to left now holding window; 3-panel double doors under renewed overlight in right end bay. 2-storey canted bay window in middle 2 bays. Curved aprons below altered fixed-light ground-floor glazing. Upper-floor sash windows in architraves; pediments and sill string on first floor. Entablature below shallow parapet with moulded copings. Concealed shallow-pitched hipped roof has corniced end and ridge stacks. Late C19 and late C20 rear extensions are not of special interest. Included for group value.
