ST MEWAN SW 94 NE 6/88 Roseview Farmhouse - II

Farmhouse. Mid C19 with few later alterations. Stone rubble with granite dressings. Slate roof with ridge tiles and gable ends. Gable end stacks with brick shafts. Plan: 2-room plan with central entrance and principal room of equal size to right and left, each heated from a gable end stack. There is a single storey wash house attached at the left end, and an integral one-room plan service wing to rear left, heated from a gable end stack. Exterior: 2 storeys, symmetrical 2-window front. All windows are C19 12-pane sashes with flat stone arches and keystones. Central C20 panelled door with overlight; the arch over the door has a keystone and is continued as a band course. The right end is blind; 2-storey lean-to to rear with 12-pane sash at ground floor and C20 window at first floor; the upper level rendered. The left end is blind. The wash house is attached to left, single storey, with 4-pane sash to front with cambered brick arch, and plank door to rear. The rear service wing is to left, with two C19 12-pane sashes at first floor, 12-pane sash and plank door with pitched slate hood at ground floor. At the rear, the gable end of the wing has late C19 margin-glazed sash at first floor to left. Interior: Not inspected.
