Details
MADRON SW 43 SE 7/113 The Bothy and potting shed at - SW 450313 GV II
Gardener's cottage probably originally a store, and adjoining potting shed. Circa early C19 and early C20. Granite rubble with granite dressings to house, brick potting shed. House has hipped scantle slate roof, potting shed has hipped asbestos slate roof laid to diamond pattern. Plan: rectangular house probably with 2 rooms, set back at left hand side is a store with large doorway at the front and far left is a rectangular potting shed. Exterior: slightly irregular 2 window south front, house to right with doorway towards the left. Ledged door, circa late C19 6-pane horned sashes. At the right hand end, first floor, is a former loading doorway. The potting shed, far left, has mostly glazed front with small paned casements. Interior: not inspected. This building relates to planned grounds and kitchen garden walls qv which were built in 1814 when Trengwainton house was enlarged by Sir Rose Price, a West Indian sugar planter.
