II
House. Early- mid C19, with alterations of later C19 and C20. Slatestone rubble. Slate roof with ridge tiles and gable ends. Gable end stacks with brick shafts. Plan: 2-room plan with central entrance. Room to right and left, each heated from a gable end stack. There is a service outshut of single storey and loft, of the later C19, along the rear of the house, and a small outhouse attached at the left end. Exterior: 2 storeys, a nearly symmetrical 2-window front. At ground and first floor to left and right a C20 12-pane sash. Central porch with pitched roof, with 9-pane window at the front and C20 half-glazed door at the right side. The outhouse attached to left is single storey, built into the bank at the left end, with a 9-pane window at the front. The right end is blind; the outshut has an oven projection and 9-pane window at first floor. At the rear there is a plank door to the outshut, with C20 single casement to right and 2-light casement to left; C20 hipped dormer with 2- light 6-pane casement. Interior: Not inspected. This house has great landscape value and forms an important feature of Hemmick Beach, nestling in the combe.
