TL 1551 BLUNHAM HIGH STREET (East Side)

7/5 Nos 2 (the Ovens) and 11.10.73 4 (Battle Cottage) (formerly listed as Nos 2 and 4 and Outbuilding - at W end) II Houses. Late C17 and C19. Plaque: "AD 1699". Timber framed, some timbering exposed to no. 2, parts of no. 2 rebuilt in brick, the whole with colourwashed roughcast render. Part of no. 2 has clay tile roof, the rest of the block has thatched roof. Original block of 3-room plan, one storey and attics, RH part of no. 2 being converted outbuilding. Ground floor has 2 doors to main block, both with moulded surrounds and pediments, no. 2 with 4 panel door, no. 4 with 3 panel door, the upper part glazed. 3 3-light casements with leaded lights, that to RH block under cambered head. 5 dormers overall, central one of main block and 2 RH ones being C20 insertions, all with C20 2-light casements.
