NY 33 NE MUNGRISDALE Haltcliff Bridge
1/11 Bishopspot
Farmhouse now private house. Dated and inscribed over former barn entrance J.G. 1746 and also over house entrance J. & D.G. 1747 (Joseph & Dina Grisenthwaite) with C20 alterations. Mixed rubble and cobbles under graduated local slate roof with rebuilt stone chimney stack. 2 storeys, 3 bays with former barn of 2 bays to right under common roof. Boarded door in chamfered surround with shaped lintel inscription. C20 casement windows in original chamfered surrounds. Fire windows on both floors to left; that on upper floor has reused inverted lintel inscribed RR 161.... with another fragment of the same inscription below. Former barn entrance has chamfered surround and blocked slit vent above. Flanking C20 windows in cement surrounds chamfered to match existing windows. One small chamfered-surround window to rear and C20 windows. Gable wall left has been rebuilt. Interior has inglenook with firebeam and heck partition. Beamed ceiling. Derelict for many years until restored in the late 1970's.
