ST AGNES TYWARNHAILE MINE SW 74 NW 7/235 United Hills Engine House - (at SW 700472) GV II
Pumping beam engine house, disused. Circa mid-late C19. Granite ashlar front, otherwise rubble with granite dressings. Timber lintels over most of the openings. Brick to upper stage of chimney. Plan: Rectangular plan engine house with round chimney clasping the rear right-hand corner. No surviving machinery, wooden floors or roof structure. Exterior: 3 storeys. Unaltered elevations except for blocked doorway in offside wall. Front bob wall has tall central round-headed doorway. Rear gable end wall (partly fallen) has central round-headed cylinder doorway and a window opening above. Right-hand (nearside) wall has 5 irregularly disposed openings including a doorway on the left. Upper left of wall partly fallen. Left-hand (offside) wall has doorway on the right and small opening high up on the left. Interior: Not inspected. Source: Sharpe, Adam and Smith, John. Engine Houses in St Agnes Parish.
