Details
CALSTOCK CALSTOCK SX 4268-4368 9/66 Limekiln at SX 435685 II Limekilns. Early C19. Slatestone rubble. Plan: Large rectangular plan limekiln, about 20 metres across, built into the bank at the rear for top loading. Double well. Access to railway siding and to Calstock Quay on the River Tamar. Attached at the right side is small 2-storey building which may have been for the limeburner and for storage. The kiln has 3 tall round arches to the front, with stone dressings and granite keystones. Slate string course above. Left side has buttress and C20 window at 2 upper levels. To end right, the attached 2-storey building has at ground floor and upper door, probably a loading door. Interior: Not accessible. Sources: Tamar Valley Project.
