BUERTON C.P. (Off) KETTLE LANE SJ 64 SE 7/2 Kynsal Lodge - GV II
Small Country House. c1850. By Thomas Baker of Highfield. Red Flemish bond brick with painted ashlar dressings and a slate roof with lead flashings. Entrance front: Slightly projecting gabled bay at right with slightly projecting central portion in which is set a ground floor window of 3 x 5 sash panes which falls to the level of the ashlar plinth (common to the whole building) and has a flat-arched head. The first floor window above has 3 x 4 sash panes and rests upon a stone band, also common to the whole building. Above this is a pedimental gable. To the left at ground floor left is a porch with raised ashlar square columns with pilaster responds and a 1/2-glazed C19 door behind with rectangular overlight and to left of this a slightly projecting bay which has a ground floor window of 3 x 5 panes similar to that at right. The two first floor windows are of 3 x 4 sash panes similar to that at right. Deep eaves above. To the left is a later single storey addition of C19 date. Three bays, the central one projecting slightly and having a shallow pediment over. All three windows are of 3 x 5 sash panes falling to the level of the sill and with flat arched heads. The right hand side is essentially similar to the entrance front with a projecting gabled wing at right and two bays at left of which that to the far left projects slightly. The central bay has a window of 3 x 5 sash panes and the left hand bay has a tri-partite window at ground floor level having a central light of 3 x 5 panes with lights of 1 x 5 panes to either side. To the right are two later C19 bays in a deeper shade of brick with two ground floor windows of 3 x 6 panes and two first floor windows of 3 x 4 panes.
