3/25 Lead statue and carved unicorns' heads on section of wall behind fishpond to east of Adlington Hall.
GV II
Lead statue and carved unicorns heads: mid C18 for Charles Legh but statue moved from Wilderness garden and unicorns' heads from the tops of the Pillars c1960. Large lead statue of a reclining nude, bearded, male figure resting on his elbow and tipping a gadrooned urn forward. It is now on a rough stone plinth. Said to be Father Tiber. On the brick wall behind are 2 former capstones of gate piers. These are in buff sandstone and have fine carved unicorns' heads placed to face each other. This is the Legh's emblem.
