Farmhouse: early C17 with later C17 additions to left and right, some C20 alterations. Coursed squared buff sandstone rubble. Kerridge stone-slate roof, stone ridge and 2 brick chimneys. Originally rectangular in plan but additions now leave T-shape. 2-storey, 3-bay front. Left end bay has 5-board door under rough stone lintel approached by 4 steps. Just to right is tall, 2-light stone mullion with lattice-leaded windows above and square opening to cellar. Central bay under gable with exposed roof timbers has 4-light, chamfered stone mullion with projecting rubble bond at 1st floor. Similar 3-light under rubble hood mould above. Right end bay has replaced 3-light stone mullion window. Right gable has 5-light chamfered stone mullion under rubble hood mould with original rectangular lead glazing. Similar 3-light above with rubble stone mullions. Wing to rear has several 2-light windows and door behind lean-to porch under rough stone lintel. Interior: Room in left end bay has chamfered ceiling beams and fire-beam. Formerly contained large brick fireplace and bread oven. Leads to room containing dogleg early C17 staircase with shaped flat balusters, square newels and octagonal central post. 2 primitive 2-panelled doors, one leading to barrel vaulted cellar. Main rooms has inglenook fireplace with chamfered fire beam and ceiling beams all with flat stops. C18 cupboards with panelled doors to either side of C20 fireplace. Fitted C17 9-drawer dresser under the window. Room to rear was formerly 3 rooms. Has similar dogleg staircase which becomes spiral to loft. Walls are small-framed timber with plastered infill. Parlour beyond main room has good 2-panelled door with raised fields. Ovolo-moulded ceiling beam and C18 panelling to window seat and surround. Upstairs a number of primitive 2-panelled doors and 2 cupboards in chimney breast. A truss of tie-beam and collar visible.
A farmhouse of early C17 origins and extended during the C17 and has nearly all its exterior intact and a remarkable amount of fitted woodwork inside for a building of this status.
