Details

GOUDHURST CRANBROOK ROAD TQ 7237-7337 (north side) 15/149 Little Holt (formerly 11.3.82 listed as Jetwells) II House. C16, clad and extended C18 and C19. Timber-framed core, clad and extended with red brick on ground floor and fish-scale and plain tile hanging on 1st floor. Plain tiled roof. Originally 4 bay lobby-entry range, now much extended by irregular additional wings. Left return (garden front) probably original entrance front, 2 storeys and attic with half-hipped roof, 2 flat roofed dormers and stack to centre right. Two glazing bar sashes and central wooden casement on 1st floor. French doors, sash and door sized glazing bar sash in ground floor. Two storey gabled extension projecting at end left, with single glazing bar sash on 1st floor, and tripartite on ground floor. Present entrance front gable end of main range, 2 storeys and attic, with half-hip to left projecting gable to centre right, and gabled main roof. Stack to left, to centre and to end right. Modillion eaves cornice to right and block (ie the rear wing to the main range). Six glazing bar sashes to 1st floor, with 1 to attic to left, and 3 taller glazing bar sashes on ground floor, with gauged heads, and canted bay with glazing bar sashes to central gabled projection. Door of 2 moulded panels and glazed upper panels to centre left, with traceried semicircular fanlight in Doric porch, with fluted pilasters and moulded frieze and cornice (a late C20 reproduction or insertion replacing Victorian gabled porch). Interior: C16 roll moulded ceiling joists of good quality reported in front (ie garden) range.
