CROWTON C.P. ONSTON LANE SJ 57 SE (West Side) 4/3 Onston Hall II

Hall: early C19. Flemish bond red brick with buff sandstone dressing. Hipped Welsh slate roof and 2 brick chimneys. 2-storey, symmetrical 3-bay west front. Stone plinth, moulded cornice and low blocking course. Windows are recessed 12-pane sashes with flat gauged brick heads and stone sills. Central bay has architrave with the order of the Tower of the Winds, and a triangular pediment. 6-panelled oak door approached by 2 stone steps and a semi-circular fanlight with radial glazing bars. 12-pane sash and added dormer above. To the rear the central bay is a 2-storey canted bay window. Interior: entrance hall has open-string staircase with plain balusters, mahogany handrail and stone treads. 6-panelled doors.
