Details
WILTON WILTON VILLAGE NZ 51 NE 7/118 I.C.I. Estate Workshops G.V. II
School, c.1854; now used as estate workshop and store. White "Pease" brick, with stone dressings. Red brick right return and rear. Welsh slate roofs. Tudor-Gothick style. One-storey, one-bay gabled front. Entered from left return. Quasi-reticulated tracery to tall pointed window under hoodmould. sloped gable copings with roll moulding, and remains of bellcote at apex. Octagonal turrets at angles, with spirelets and ornate finials (missing from left spirelet). Gable flanked by high screen walls, terminating in similar buttressed turrets, with basket-headed carriage openings, that at right with boarded double doors, under hoodmoulds. Similar copings raised in middle to form gablets with fleur-de-lys finials on octagonal shafts. 4-bay left return has lean-to porch in 2nd bay, with 6-panel door in left return. Cross windows with cavetto-moulded wood mullions and transoms, hoodmoulds and battered sills. Straight parapet with battered, roll-moulded copings and 2 raised stepped sections with tablets and carved ribbons. Interior has 6-panel doors in moulded surrounds; and kingpost roof trusses with butt purlins.
