LOFTUS HIGH STREET NZ 7218 (south side), Loftus. 4/33 No. 73 (White Horse Public House) G.V. II Public house, early C19, altered and raised by 1½ storeys mid C19, windows and doors renewed late C19. Dressed sandstone; Lakeland slate roof with stone gable copings and moulded kneeler at left end. Rebuilt rendered brick stacks. Timber bay windows. 2½ storeys, 3 windows. Central 4-panel door and overlight in timber pilaster-and-entablature doorcase. Canted bay windows with sashes and cornice on ground floor. Sash windows on first floor; middle window blocked and now holding bracketed hanging sign. Gabled full dormers have paired sashes with basket-arched top lights and painted sills. Stacks on ridge and left end. Late C19 rear extensions are not of special interest. Included for group value.
