Manor house, barton and now private house. Circa C17, remodelled in mid C19. Stone rubble, rendered on west front, partly slate hung on south. Rear elevation of maid range on east, stone rubble with lacing courses of slate. Slate roof with hipped ends. Lower slate roof with hipped end over extension on east end. Asbestos slate roof to staircase projection in angle. Stone rubble stacks in hipped ends of main range and brick stack in rear wing on ridge. 1 room deep. 2 rooms with cross passage and staircase in projection to rear. Extended in 'L' shape with rear (east) wing forming 'L' sahped plan. Further lean-to extensions added on south, east and in angle of 2 wings. 2 storeys and attic, asymmetrical 2 window west front. Ground floor with C20 window on left and double 16-pane sash without horns on right. Glazed late C19 porch at centre on brick base with gable end and slate roof. First floor, 2 early C20 3-light casements. Above, to right of centre C19 2-light casement with glazing bars. Interior On first floor in west wing interesting double doorcase with complicated moulded jambs comprising a triple ovolo. Stops comprising bulbous vase motif above scrolls stops. Simple circa C18 stair with possibly earlier stair beneath. Blocked room to rear of staircase accessible from above. C19 scissor truss roof. Domesday Manor held by Aelfric prior to 1066. Later known as our Lady of Penpoll, possibly cell of St Germans. Information from tenant.
