Inn. Probably early C18, with alterations and additions of later C18 and C19 ; C20
alterations. Slatestone rubble, painted, with granite dressings. Slate and asbestos
slate roof, hipped to left and with gable end to right. Rear lateral stack to left,
and 2 inserted front lateral stacks to right.
Plan: The original building is the front range, with one room to left heated by a
rear lateral stack, entrance and 2 rooms to right, now one large room. In circa mid
C19, an addition of one-room plan was made to the right end, with a door to front.
Probably later in the C19, an addition was made to right, forming a rear wing, which
consisted of a 2-room plan house, with central entrance ; to the right end of this
was added a 2-storey stable. Single storey C20 addition to rear of the main range.
Exterior: 2 storeys, symmetrical 4-window front, with all windows C20 casements.
Ground floor windows have wedge-shaped stone lintels and keystone, and there is a
granite band course above and granite pilaster to left. 6-panelled door with
overlight and flat hood on brackets. To end right is a 4-panelled door with
overlight and cornice. The addition to right has C20 window at ground and first
floor. Over the main door is a panel, probably originally for a sign; one C20 flat-
roofed dormer. At the left side, C20 window at ground and first floor and C20
dormer. Single storey rubble addition to left. At the right side there is a 6-pane
light at ground floor and C19 16-pane sash at first floor. The attached cottage has
central plank door with C19 16-pane sash to right and left, two 16-pane sashes at
first floor. The stable attached to right has central plank door and casement with
segmental head to right and left ; first floor loading door with strap hinges, and
small window with shutters to right and left. C20 garage doors to rear. The rear of
the main range has single storey C20 addition and C20 windows at first floor.
