3/7 Hillhead - II
House. Circa early C18. Rendered stone rubble and cob with cement washed scantle slate roof with hipped lower end on left and gabled higher end on right. Large rendered stone rubble projecting kitchen chimney stack on right-hand higher end with set-offs and cloam oven projection. Probably 2 room and through passage plan with kitchen heated by end stack in slightly larger room at higher end on right and unheated parlour at lower end on left. Later lean-to outbuilding added at lower end. 2 storeys, regular 2-window front with entrance placed to left of centre. Ground floor with 2 late C19 casements beneath timber lintels. Early C20 part glazed door with open rendered brick porch with corrugated iron lean-to roof. Above, 2 late C19 casements. Lean-to on left-hand gable end. Interior not inspected. Hillhead is a good example of a largely unaltered small 2-room plan house.
