9/154 Halfway House Inn

GV II

Inn with stable attached to rear, now used as living accommodation. Circa 1750, with
C19 and C20 alterations, particularly to interior. Rubble, rendered, slate hipped
roof with brick stack to front slope.
Originally double depth plan with front room on either side of entrance; the entrance
has been moved to the left side of the building on the Garrett Street front, which
also has another entrance to right.
3 storeys and 2 windows, ground floor has C20 embattled porch to left, 4-pane sash
and 2-pane light, formerly door, first floor has 4-pane sashes, 2nd floor 16-pane
sash with thick glazing bars; modillion cornice. Right side has corner of wall
chamfered, all windows 4-pane sashes with shutters at ground floor, 2-bay front,
central double doors in wooden porch with cornice. Attached to right, a 2-storey
former stable, with 2 doors and 2 C20 windows at ground floor, two 12-pane sashes at
first floor. Addition to end right in sandstone rubble with upper door and single
light.
