7/100 Jetties and boatshed at Mashford's
Boatyard
GV II
3 jetties forming double basin, with boatshed on jetty to west. C18. Jetties in
limestone rubble, laid in vertical and horizontal sections, with rough limestone
copings. Boatshed in limestone rubble with hipped slate roof. 3 jetties form 2
elliptical basins making a graving yard. Jetty to east is square-nosed, central
shorter jetty triangular-nosed and jetty to east round-nosed; the two outer jetties
nearly meet at the entrance so that the basins could be closed and drained for dry
docks for boat-building.
2-storey boatshed has single storey wing with hipped roof to front, corrugated
asbestos half-hipped roof to main block. Front has double doors with timber lintel,
right side to waterfront. Left side has door and casement in front wing, rear block
has door with casement to right and left, central ladder to wide upper door with
window opening to right and left. Single light under eaves to rear.
Interior: 4-bay roof to main building, some C18 tie-beams remaining, crossed and
pegged principals and 3 rows of purlins, most members replaced C20 with rooflights.
Further C20 sheds attached around basins.
