House. C17, with C18 aid later alterations. Sandstone rubble, asbestos slate roof
with crested ridge tiles. 2-room single depth plan, with rear service wing of one-
room plan to right, stair probably inserted mid C18 between rear wing and front room
to right. Room to right heated by rear lateral stack.
1½ storeys and 3 windows, ground floor has 6-pane sash, 4-pane sash (formerly
doorway), C20 door and window to right which is one of the few remaining examples of
the Kingsand/Cawsand type window, a 4-pane sash with Gothic margin glazing. Other
examples at Dorset House and Spring Cottage, Heavitree Road (q.v.). 3 raking
dormers, each with 4-pane sash.
Interior: Straight stair has stick balusters with column newel and vertical
panelling; room to front left has corner cupboard with shaped shelves. Other C18
features altered C20. 5-bay roof with halved principal rafters crossed at apex,
cambered side-pegged collars and one row of purlins.
