SW 83 NW FEOCK LA FEOCK, Feock
4/61 Well of Saint Feock
GV II
Holy well head, adjoining hedge and pump. Medieval origins but remodelled in the
late C191early C20. Brick protecting wall, otherwise stone rubble against earth
bank. Cast iron pump. Rectangular on plan with curved corner to south west.
Situated to south west corner of U-shaped enclosure open at north (road) side and
sloping down to south and east. Well head is low brick structure withdoorway to
east. Low pitched boarded roof was probably originally covered in scantle slate.
Stone facing of earth hedge circa early/mid C19 to south and east has courses of
vertically-set stones. Older walling to west is irregular.
Interior of well has rubble walling bedded in mortar and is possibly medieval.
Pump, to north side of enclosure, has fluted domed head with finial over, turned and
moulded barrel and shaft with fluted spout. Stone bucket stand.
