Former school, including front and rear courtyard walls, railings and gates. Circa 1874. Coursed dressed Killas with granite dressings. Dry Delabole slate roofs with gable ends to principal roofs and half-hipped ends to secondary roofs. Mostly lateral stacks; some stacks have diagonally-set brick shafts. Plan: Overall U-shaped plan plus short wings projecting into the courtyard from the ranges on the left and right. Principal range contains the schoolroom (hall); the other ranges contain the classrooms. The principal entrance is into a porch in the right-hand inner angle. Gothic style details. Exterior: Single storey. Virtually unaltered elevations with most of the openings original; chamfered granite weathering to high plinth. Principal window openings have 4-light mullioned windows with traceried heads and relieving arches over. Most of the other windows are 3-light mullioned windows with transoms. Principal south- south-east (hall) front has central gable with 4-light traceried window flanked by 3- light windows. On the left, over the angle between the main roof and the classroom range at right angles in front of the left-hand side, is a tall octangonal bellcote with a spire. On the right, in the angle, between the hall range and the classroom range in front of the right-hand side, is a porch with 4-centred doorway at the front. Interior has most of its original panelled doors, dado panelling (vertical tongued and grooved boards) and wooden floors. The roof structure is original and said to be well detailed but is hidden by C20 acoustic ceilings. Killas walls surround rectangular courtyard at the front and there are high retaining walls to a shallow courtyard at the rear.
