Details
SW 83 SW MYLOR TREFUSIS ROAD, (west side),
Flushing
6/294 New Quay
GV II
Quay. Circa early C18. Probably built for Samuel Trefusis. Vertically-set slightly
battered dry shale walling with dressed granite iron stapled copings.
Roughly rectangular-on-plan projecting westwards and with parapet walling over south
seaward side.
Samuel Trefusis and his father Francis, died 1680, built quays at Flushing, and both
were elected as Members of Parliament for Penryn. It is thought that Dutch engineers
may have been employed for the earlier quays of this type.
This most southern quay of Flushing, gives protection to the whole waterfront.
