Gate piers walls surrounding sundial, sundial and walls flanking paths to south and west doorways of Church of Saint Maugan

GV
II

Gate piers, walls, sundial. Circa early C19 walls, sundial. Dressed granite, shale
and slate.
A pair of monolith granite gate piers flank a wide lych gate entrance with granite
coped side walls. At the right handside the walls enclose a raised square terrace
with a dressed granite sundial in the form of a Tuscan column, inscribed: I Worgan
Fecit, Mawgan Parish 1695. Two promentory steps before the main gate (south) and 3
small steps to the north of the sun dial terrace. Cattle grid between piers filled
in. Beyond the gateway towards the south door of Church are low granite coped rubble
walls in the form of benches. Similar walls branch out to link with the west doorway
but these have slate copings or seats.
