SW 72 NE ST. ANTHONY -IN-MENEAGE 2/191 Bosahan Lodge, gate piers gates and - flanking walls
GV II
Principal entrance lodge/cottage ornee to Bosahan and including gate piers, gates and flanking walls. Circa late C19. Dressed serpentine brought to course, granite quoins and lintels. Wheat-reed thatched roofs with shaped and pierced wooden barge boards with alternate cusps and roundels. Three linked diagonally set stone chimney shafts with moulded cornices over middle of building, between main part and wing. Irregular T-shaped 3 room plan; canted bay to front of large principal room, left; small room, right; entrance passage between; large room to rear wing left of middle with lean-to bay window at rear and small porch at rear in the angle between the right hand room and the rear wing. Single storey plus attic (lit by gable windows). Irregular 2 window north-east front: Doorway right of middle with ledged door; open thatched porch carried on 2 rustic posts and with barge board similar to other gables; 4 light canted bay window under thatched outshut hood left and 2-light window right of doorway. All windows are casements with their original latticed leaded panes. Over the doorway is a carving of a soldier standing behind ramparts. Interior not inspected. Gate piers are dressed granite, square on plan with chamfered corners and moulded ogee headed caps. The flanking curved walls are coursed vertically-set pebbles. The wrought iron gates with elliptical and scrolled bracing are contemporary. One of the buildings associated with the former late C19 Bosahan House, demolished in the 1950's.
