GV II
Cottage and adjoining cartshed. C17 origins, C20 alterations. Cottage whitewashed cob on roughly squared stone, cartshed stone rubble. Corrugated iron roof. Brick chimney at right gable end. Single depth 2 room cottage with first floor partly used as loft. Stair to loft, formerly external, incorporated into accommodation late C20. 2-storey cottage with open fronted cartshed adjoining at left. Front projection to cottage contains stair and small porch under lean-to roofs. Entrance through right return of projection. 2 timber posts support cartshed roof at front. Cottage has 2 ground floor C20 windows under timber lintels, C20 casement to front projection, first floor opening to loft. Rear of cottage has first floor loft entrance. Ground floor room right has large rebuilt fireplace with fireplace beam with ogee stops, chamfered stopped large cross beam, axial beams. The building may have formed 1 range of courtyard plan of Gooseham Barton (q.v.). Included for group value with Gooseham Barton.
