- outbuilding about 12 metres south
of Jenns Thurdon Farmhouse
- II
Outbuilding, formerly farmhouse. Late C17/C18. 2 builds. Partly plastered,
partly rendered, house to right of porch cob on stone plinth to rear, stone to
first floor level on front, cob above. To left of porch house is cob on low stone
plinth. Galvanised iron roof, formerly thatched, axial brick chimney on stone
stack, roof hipped at left end, gabled at right end. Present plan through passage
with stair in passage. Former hall to right of passage. Evidence of rebuilding
to left of passage, through passage may have been widened to incorporate stair. 2
storey, 3 window range. Slightly off-centre porch with sloping slate roof. 3-
light timber casement to former hall with timber mullions and 10 leaded panes per
light. Second entrance to left of porch into room now used as store. 3 first
floor openings, 1 to left of stack retains some leaded panes.
Hall has large fireplace with replaced fireplace beam and cloam oven, 1 cross
beam, remains of slate floor. Roof at right end 2 raised crucks. Ground floor
room rear left former dairy with slate-topped benches. Trusses to left of porch
over lower end halved and pegged. Through passage has irregular stone flooring.
Ground floor lower room rear left has partition walls of stud with cob infill.
Pigeon holes under eaves to front.
