10/159 Cottage at approximately 60 metres - east of Brookside, including front garden walls, gate-piers and gate
GV II
Pair of cottages, now one house including front garden walls, gate-piers and gate. Circa late C18 or early C19. Painted rubble and cob walls, wooden lintels. Fairly steep slurried scantle slate roof with brick chimneys over the gable ends. Plan: Originall 2 identical one-room-plan cottages with the entrance lobbies in the middle. Left-hand cottage extended in the C19 with lean-tos at rear and on the left- hand side. Exterior: 2 storeys. Long low symmetrical 4 window south front with pair of doorways at the middle (right-hand doorway now has window). Original 4-panel door. Original 12-pane horizontally-sliding sashes at left and eight otherwise later 4-pane 2-light casements. Interior: not inspected but said to be little altered in the C20. Rectangular garden with granite rabble and earth walls. Aligned with present doorway of house is a gateway with granite monolithic piers and simple wrought-iron gate with small ball finials to the bars.
