6/192 Detached chimney at SW 598263, Trewavas Mine
GV II
Detached chimney serving beam engine house. Circa 1840. Granite rubble, round-on- plan single stage chimney set on the top of the cliff above the engine house at Old Shaft. Remains of the linking inclined flue survive. Wheal Trewavas was a copper mine and worked from circa 1834-1846. Source : Mines and Miners of Cornwall, A K Hamilton Jenkin. This chimney replaced the original chimney of which the base survives halfway up the cliff near the engine house.
