6/7 The Coastguards' Cottages
GV II
Terrace of coastguards' cottages, now used as holiday cottages. Circa late C19. Granite rubble with dressed granite quoins, doorsteps, sills, jambstones and voussoirs over shallow arches. Hipped Delabole slate roof laid in diminishing courses with axial chimneys over main range with axial rendered brick chimneys. Slightly projecting eaves with gutters carried on iron brackets. Rectangular double depth plan terrace of cottages either one room or 2 rooms wide. The left hand cottage has 2 storey gable ended one room plan part with entrance set back from the main front wall; the second cottage is larger than the others with a central doorway and a room on either side; then 2 pairs of cottages each one room wide with paired entrances in the middle and an odd one room wide cottage with an entrance at the right hand end with dormered hoist doorway over. Two storeys. Overall 9 window front, probably original 6-pane horned sashes, ledged doors, all in original openings spanned by shallow segmental arches. Interiors not inspected.
