BLISLAND SX 17 SW 9/96 Cassacawn Millhouse

- II

Millhouse. Circa early C19. Painted stone rubble with granite quoins. Rag slate roof with gable ends. Brick end stacks. Plan: 2 room and cross or through passage plan, heated by end stacks. Probably larger hall/kitchen on right and parlour on left. Extended to rear with outshot remodelled partly in C20. Exterior: 2 storeys. Regular 2 window front with entrance situated slightly to left of centre. C20 timber porch. Early C19 16-pane sashes. Interior: Early C19 ceiling beams. Fireplaces remodelled. This is the millhouse for what is possibly a C17 or C18 mill which stands to the east; its machinery has been removed and the overshot wheel sold and the C17 granite fireplace is probably reused from another house.
