NORTH TAMERTON NORTH TAMERTON SX 39 NW 8/30 Tamerton Bridge

II

Road bridge over upper reaches of River Tamar. Mid C19 probably built soon after 1847 when the medieval bridge was rebuilt following a flood in July 1847. It is a County bridge and therefore probably designed by W Pease the County Surveyor. Slate rubble with granite dressings. Single span with wide segmental arch with dressed granite voussoirs and keyblock. Granite stringcourse and parapet with granite coping. Abutments slightly advanced at either end.
