TOLLESBURY WOODROLFE ROAD TL 91 SE 4/41 The Sail Lofts 25.1.74 - II
Group Of 4 yacht stores. Circa 1900, altered in 1984-5. Timber framed, weatherboarded, 3 roofed with corrugated iron, one with corrugated asbestos. 4 stores in a NW-SE line, identified alphabetically in that order, all facing SW. A and C of 2 storeys with attics, B and D of 2 storeys. All mounted on tapering square concrete piers. A has bracketed galleries with fixed ladder access to 3 floors, C has similar galleries to the first floor and attic, D has a similar gallery to the first floor only. Direct access by fixed ladders elsewhere. A has on the lowest floor a shop window and a pair of glazed doors, recessed within 2 pairs of sliding doors with diagonal boarding, on the first floor 2 pairs of similar sliding doors, and on the attic a pair of doors with lights, and hoist above. B has on the lowest floor one pair of similar sliding doors, and on the upper floor a pair of plain boarded doors and 2 shuttered windows. C and D each have on the lowest floor 2 pairs of sliding doors with vertical boarding, and 3 pairs on the first floor. C has on the attic gable a pair of plain boarded doors with hoist above, and 2 shuttered windows; D has 2 hoists on the first floor, and in the gable a casement with hoist above, and this one has the asbestos roof. All have casements at the sides.
