Details
LANNER ROUGH STREET SW 73 NW (south side, off) 9/220 Melrose House
II House. Probably early to mid C19, incorporating earlier building. Render (probably on killas rubble) with granite ashlar quotas and dressings, slurried scantle slate roof. Double-depth plan. Two storeys and 3 bays, symmetrical; ashlar plinth, raised ashlar quoins and band; central doorway altered as 12-pane sashed window but retaining overlight with coloured margin panes, and 12-pane sashed windows elsewhere, all with large and regular raised ashlar quotas and lintels (those at ground floor incorporated in the band); hipped roof with projecting eaves, side- wall chimneys. Rear is less regular, because present building incoporates an earlier cottage.
