II
Farm building including stable, lofted byre, etc. Probably C18, in several builds;
altered. Uncoursed granite and kilLas rubble with granite quoins and dressings,
slurried slate roof on 3 levels. Linear plan formed by 4 small elements on east-
west axis, facing south, back to road. Mostly 2 low storeys but all to different
heights and all approx. 2 bays. The centre, which is the tallest, has a doorway
and window at ground floor, a blocked loading door and window above, and a
short chimney at the right-hand gable; the west element, which is only slightly
lower, has a wide doorway in the 1st bay with large rectangular lintel,
immediately right of this a parallel flight of steps to a low loft door, a square
window under the eaves, and a chimney at the left gable; the east element,
which is the lowest, has a doorway and window at ground floor and small square
window (or pitching hole) under the eaves. At the west end is a large lean-to
with garage door and small window, and roof of corrugated sheet. Rear: centre
has one small window on each floor, eastern element (here set back) has one
small window at ground floor. Interior not inspected. Included as good example of
multi-purpose Cornish building for a small farm on an exposed site.
