CARN BREA CARNKIE SK 64 SE 5/134 Chimney at SW 689 401

GV II Chimney to former winder at Wheal Basset Mine; now derelict. Late C19. Uncoursed granite rubble and brick. Tapered cylindrical form, apparently intact, with cornice to top of brick stage. History: winder, intended to work Miners shaft to east which did not proceed, was adapted to work Lyle's shaft to west by ropes on pulley stands. Included for group value with engine houses and West Basset stamps approx. 200 metres to the west. Reference: Palmer & Neaverson., op.cit.
