CAMBORNE LOWER PENGEGON ROAD SW 64 SE (west side, off) 5/59 Harriet Shaft Engine House II

Mine pump engine house, now derelict. Probably late C19, for Dolcoath Mine. Uncoursed rubble with granite quoins, bob wall of dressed granite blocks, window arches of brick; now roofless. Rectangular plan on north- west/south-east axis, with bob wall to north and circular chimney attached at south-west corner. Three stages on a plinth; round-headed openings including large cylinder door in rear wall beside chimney; slightly tapered chimney with moulded cornice, former brick upper stage missing. Former shaft immediately in front of bob wall. Interior not inspected. History: formerly housed 65" cylinder; one of the few remaining monuments of the Dolcoath Mine, once the most productive tin mine in the world.
