ADVENT SX 18 SW 5/1 Allansford - GV II
Small house. Circa mid C18. Stone rubble. Rag slate roof with gable ends. Stone rubble stack on left hand gable end. Plan: 2 room and central entrance plan, the left hand room heated by an end stack and the right hand room unheated. Internal partitions on ground floor removed to form 1 large room with circa late C19 stair to rear of right hand room. Circa early C20 outshot on right hand gable end. 2 storeys. Almost symmetrical 2 window front with 2-light casement on left and 1- light casement to right of C20 rendered lean-to porch with plank door within. First floor has two 2-light casements. Although the fenestration has been renewed in the C20, the small size of the original window openings remains unaltered. The left hand gable wall has been partly rebuilt together with the rounded cloam oven projection to the end stack. Corrugated iron lean-to outshot to rear. Interior with internal partitions altered on ground floor and ceiling beams possibly renewed in late C19. The fireplace has been blocked by a C20 brick fireplace, the unmoulded granite lintel and jambs of the earlier fireplace visible. Roof structure replaced in early C20. Allansford is a particularly picturesque small house of a type which is rapidly disappearing from Cornwall.
