ST CLETHER SX 28 SW 4/177 The Old Vicarage - GV II
Vicarage, now private house. Circa early C17. Stone rubble and cob, hung with rag slates on front elevation. Rag slate roof with gable ends. Projecting stone rubble end stacks and projecting side lateral stack. Plan: Probably originally of 2-room and through or cross passage plan, the two rooms heated by end stacks. Extended to rear of left hand room , possibly in early to mid C17 with kitchen, heated by side lateral stack, forming an overall 'L' shaped plan. Outshut added across rear of left hand room and passsage, possibly in C18 with circa C19 stair to rear of passage. Exterior: Two storeys. Almost symmetrical 3-window slate-hung front. Central C19 6-panel door in late C19 or C20 brick porch with rounded chamfered arch and slate roof with gable end. Late C19 or C20 4-pane sash to left and late C19 or C20 bay window with 4-pane sashes to right. Three small C19 2-light casements on first floor. Interior: Complete C19 fixtures and fittings. C19 stair to rear of passage. Kitchen to rear left has a blocked firplace; the owner states that there is a very large piece of blue elvan stone forming part of a sizeable fireplace behind. First floor not inspected.
