2 cottages. Probably early C18. Rendered and painted stone rubble and cob. Rag
slate roof with hipped end on left and gable end on right. Stone rubble end stack on
right and rendered axial stack near centre.
Plan: The left hand cottage (Anvil Cottage) has a 2-room and cross passage plan with
larger hall-kitchen on right and smaller unheated room on left. C19 outshut added
across rear. The adjoining cottage to right is of 1-room and passage plan, the
entrance on left and the room on right heated by an end stack. A C20 extension has
been added to rear to form a 2-room plan.
Exterior: 2 storeys. Regular 2:1 window front. Anvil Cottage to left has an almost
centrally placed entrance with part glazed C20 door in C19 stone rubble porch with
lean-to roof. -Flanked by C19 2-light casements. First floor has C19 1-light
casement to left and 2-light casement to right. The cottage to right has a C20 door
to left with C20 windows on ground and first floor to right, in the original
openings.
Interior: Right hand cottage has C20 ceiling beams. Interior of Anvil Cottage not
inspected.
