GV II
Farmhouse becoming farmworkers cottage in circa 1840s when the existing farmhouse, (qv Weston Farmhouse) was built. Circa late C17. Rendered and painted stone rubble and cob. Slate roof with gable ends and brick shaft to end stack on right. Plan: Original plan uncertain. The house has a 2-room and cross passage plan with larger left hand room heated by rear lateral stack and right hand room by end stack. Small dairy directly to rear of right hand room. Circa late C19 or C20 extension containing bathroom to rear. Although the house once extended to the right by a further room, it is uncertain whether this was part of the original house or a later extension. The roof was originally thatched and was altered in the mid C20 when the eaves were raised and the roof slated. Exterior: 2-storeys. Regular 3 window front with C20 PVC windows in earlier openings. Plank door in C19 porch slightly to right of centre flanked by two 2-light casements with 3 above. Interior: Not fully accessible. The right hand room has heavy floor joists which . appear to be roughly chamfered. Forms part of group in unaltered farmyard.
