The Grange

II

Vicarage, now hotel. Circa 1830, with few later alterations. Stone rubble, stucco
at the front and right side. Hipped slate roof with ridge tiles ; axial stacks with
rendered shafts.
Plan: Double depth plan, with central entrance and principal room to front right and
left ; there are also principal rooms along the right side, which forms the garden
front. The stair hall is behind the principal room to front left, and the service
block is to rear left.
Exterior: 2 storeys, a symmetrical 3-window front. First floor has 16-pane sashes ;
ground floor has 20-pane sash to right and left, with central double half-glazed
doors with pilasters and cornice. Plinth and band course. The left side has a
round-arched stair light with margin glazing and random fenestration. The right side
has regular fenestration, all sashes, with a 2-storey bay projecting to end right.
Interior: Original open-well stair with wreathed handrail. Panelled doors and
panelled shutters to the ground floor windows. The entrance hall has arched niches.
