LUDGVAN ROSPEATH LANE SW 53 SW 8/65 Chyvellan Farmhouse and adjoining - outbuildings 10:06:54 II Farmhouse and adjoining outbuildings. C17 or circa early C18. Painted rubble walls. Grouted scantle slate roof with rubble gable-end stacks. Cast-iron ogee gutters. Barn, left, has corrugated asbestos roof with gable ends. Plan: originally 2 rooms with hall/kitchen, right, and parlour, left, with passage between leading to rear stair outshut. Circa late C18, a pantry outshut was added left of the stair and in the C19 a 2 storey barn/shippon was built adjoining left of the pantry and a single storey range was built at right angles to the front right of the house. Exterior: 2 storeys. Nearly symmetrical 3 window south-east front with doorway left of middle. Single storey building (now part of house) adjoining the right hand side of the front with its openings facing left and a barn front set back on the left. The house has circa late C19 4-panel door with top panels later glazed and 8-pane horned sashes of similar date. Original openings. The barn front has doorway right of middle and far left and loading doorway to first floor middle. Small window openings, ledged doors. Interior: has circa mid-late C19 features and structure but little altered since then.
